This gem isn’t shy and starts showing off right from the get-go. Very dark red to almost brownish shoots retain this colour until far in the development of the spring bush. When the foliage starts to green up, the stems start stretching also which allows the relatively fine buds to tower well above the wonderful canopy. The foliage is simply mouth-watering, sophisticatedly oval-shaped and fairly large, but so well balanced on the stems. In combination with the fairly long “necks”, this is giving the whole bush a very harmonious appearance, allowing the light pink to lavender coloured, single flowers to completely steal the show. The blooms have strikingly rounded and waving petals and an airy bunch of bright yellow stamens, completed by the burgundy red stigmas in the center. ‘Fantasia’ is a real peony lovers delight.
