Momo Taro
Intersectional hybrid

The paint is still wet on this one! Although previously distributed under this name, to be registered with the APS this year. The name ‘Momo Taro’ refers to a hero from Japanese folklore and translates into ‘Peach Boy’. The breeder (Mr. Seidl) was stationed in Japan for military duty, and greatly enjoyed the culture and language. What a beautiful way to honor precious memories by naming a peony for it.
Describing colours is so hard… The registration speaks of creamy yellow, and that’s also what it is. Peach would be a very matching colour description as well, given the name this peony was given. The large single flowers with handsomely contrasting red flames in the center fade to different shades of cream and yellow as they mature, and never stop drawing attention. As most intersectional hybrids, the bush is beautifully round shaped with outward facing blooms that stick out of the foliage nicely. ‘Momo Taro’ is a real asset for our assortment, in particular due to the very special flowers.
